Quality runner overview
@terra-symposium/quality coordinates source analysis and repository commands. It does not install your formatter, linter, type checker, test runner, or build tool. Your repository owns those tools and their native configuration.
Run lifecycle
Section titled “Run lifecycle”- The CLI reads
quality.json; paths resolve relative to that file or its explicitroot. - It finds files under
sourceRoots, applying extensions and exclusions. Normalqualitymode selects changed and untracked Git files;--allselects the full configured source set. - Built-in AST checks inspect JavaScript and TypeScript. Configured tools and commands run as child processes when enabled.
- In fix mode, enabled transforms may write changes.
--warndisables autofixes.
Defaults and limits
Section titled “Defaults and limits”- Checks are enabled unless
enabledCheckssets them tofalse. - Autofixes are enabled unless
autofixsets them tofalse;--warndisables fixes for one invocation. - Common generated directories such as
.git,node_modules,dist,build,coverage,.next, and.astroare skipped by default. - Build and test commands are opt-in through
qualityCommands. - Advisory
recommendationCommandsdo not fail the run based on subprocess status. - Syntax and policy checks cannot prove runtime behavior, security, or whether a projection is intentional.
The quality pipeline also performs structural cleanup such as inlining single-use declarations and collapsing supported inline conditionals and type/object layouts. These transformations are part of quality/format workflow rather than separately named quality checks; see the single-use guide and formatter behavior.
See checks for individual behavior, CLI commands for modes, and configuration for every field.
